ABOUT THE EVENT
The Fairhaven Summer Art Gallery will open on June 20 - August 2, 2026 with the exhibition, Provenance: Classics to Contemporary, bringing together a dynamic range of historic and contemporary artists working across painting, sculpture, and mixed media.
The exhibition highlights a dialogue between past and present, featuring works by noted local painter Charles Henry Gifford (1839–1904), alongside contemporary artists Charles Yuen, Jennie Nichols, Susan Darwin, Richard D. Lopez, Pete Hocking, Ron Fortier, Hiroto Norikane, and others. Additional classic artists include Lemuel D Eldred, Cliff Hacker, and Corita Kent.
Each artist brings a distinct perspective, collectively establishing the gallery’s commitment to both tradition and innovation.
Situated in the historic seaside town of Fairhaven, the gallery offers a setting where place and perspective intersect — welcoming collectors and visitors from across the region and beyond.
“This is about creating a seasonal gallery where viewers and collectors can experience a full spectrum of work — presented with clarity and seriousness — while remaining open and connected to a broader, shared human experience,” said Susan Darwin.
The gallery’s summer program will extend beyond the opening exhibition to include plein air events, studio tours, and curated experiences within Fairhaven’s historic architecture.
Free Great Places Maps will be available at the Gallery during business hours.
