ABOUT THE EVENT
Join George H. Taber Lodge A.F. & A.M. for a special public celebration of America 250 at Historic Fort Phoenix on Monday, June 8, 2026, beginning at 6:00 PM.
Founded in 1872, George H. Taber Lodge has long been an active part of the Fairhaven community. In honor of America’s 250th anniversary, the Lodge will hold an open Masonic Meeting inside the historic fort, offering the public a rare opportunity to witness Masonic traditions and ceremonies in a unique Revolutionary War-era setting.
A traditional Lodge Room will be set up within Fort Phoenix, and Masonic Officers will appear in full regalia. Special guests for the evening will include the Fairhaven Village Militia, representatives of the Grand Lodge of Massachusetts, the District Deputy Grand Master, and members of the Fairhaven Historical Society.
The evening’s program will include:
Short presentations on the contributions of Freemasons to the nation, Massachusetts, and Fairhaven
A historical presentation from the Fairhaven Historical Society on Fort Phoenix during the Revolutionary War
Militia history and a cannon firing demonstration presented by the Fairhaven Village Militia
This event is open to the public, and all are invited to attend. Dinner at the Masonic Lodge will follow the conclusion of the program.
In the event of inclement weather, the celebration will be moved to the George H. Taber Lodge building, without the cannon demonstration.
