ABOUT THE EVENT
Hum is a new quartet featuring Nina Ott on organ/synths, Steve Fell on guitar, John McKenna saxophone/synths and Chris Lopes on drums and percussion creating music that unfolds in real time. Deeply rooted in jazz, the group moves freely through shared songs and open spaces—sometimes an original piece, sometimes a tune by Thelonious Monk—letting the moment decide where to go.
Electronics and acoustic sound blend throughout the performance, and the saxophonist introduces playable sculptures—resonant structures he has built—adding a visual and sonic dimension to the music.
Hum was recently featured on WGBH JazzNow in front of a live audience and has been met with an enthusiastic, attentive response.
