In INTRUDER IN THE DUST (1949), proud Lucas Beauchamp (Juano Hernández) refuses to defend himself from a murder charge. He's a mixed raced, African-American landowner and farmer in a small, Southern town. A white young man he once saved from drowning (Claude Jarman Jr.) believes in Lucas's innocence and convinces his lawyer uncle (David Brian) to represent him. While the crime waits to be solved, an angry lynch mob is forming. Only finding the true killer will stop the vigilantes.
