From the New Jersey Pines, The Wedding Funeral brings a “chillingly captivating” style of gothic americana to The Shepherd Center stage. Like campfire tales and psychological thrillers, Darren Deicide and Ethel Lynn Oxide unsettle, tease, and disturb their audience. Using vernacular instruments including musical saw and cigar box guitar, they “fuse deep, dark, bat-cave creepiness onto their acoustic guitar picking and open-throat howls.” They jump all around the musical map from pastoral British folk sounds to deep South blues to bizarre noise interludes.
